The Flower Basket design is worked entirely in Delicas on #16 canvas. You could also use 16-count Aida cloth, stabilized in a frame or hoop. The edges are shaped to accommodate the design elements.
Size 11o seed beads fit nicely on #14 needlepoint canvas, Delicas are perfect for #16 canvas (I like double thread canvas for this size) and size 15o seed beads are perfect on #18 canvas.

The Checkerboard design is shown in stages of development. The outer border is 15o seed beads; the background is worked in 60/2 silk using only four colors, blended at intervals to create the gradient appearance. The edges of this design are “whipped” in silk to give a clean appearance, with sequins and crystals covering the corners, which can be problematic. A seed bead bail is used to carry the satin cord necklace strand.
