Tubular bead crochet

Encyclopedia of Tubular Bead Crochet
This form of bead crochet is considered to be the standard. It's essentially crochet slip stitch worked in a tube, with a bead added at a certain point in the stitch. Beads are loaded onto the thread in a specific pattern prior to crocheting. When correctly threaded and stitched, designs emerge on the tube based on the threading pattern.

Euro bead crochet

Euro Double bead crochet
Also called Double bead crochet. It's an expansion of the standard tubular slip stitch crochet, using instead the single crochet stitch, which allows larger tube circumference. Euro makes very detailed designs possible. Again, beads are loaded onto the thread in a specific pattern prior to crocheting. When correctly threaded and stitched, designs emerge on the tube based on the threading pattern.
This more traditional crochet technique uses a single crochet stitch with the bead slipped at a different point than in Euro crochet. It is stitched in rounds with a step-up at the end of each round, creating a gridded pattern that can be quite large. Tapestry bead crochet is often used for purses and cases. Again, beads are loaded onto the thread in a specific pattern prior to crocheting. When correctly threaded and stitched, designs emerge on the tube based on the threading pattern.

In this very elemental form of bead crochet, beads are added according to your whim or by following a design, it's up to you. Often this genre includes decorative fibers, ribbons, chains and other elements, sometimes with surprising results and intriguing effect! The most commonly used stitch is the simple chain stitch. These projects can be done very quickly, often in an evening. It's an opportunity to use up small amounts of leftover beads and snippets of ribbon and fibers.

Because leaders in remote locations do not have access to retail bead stores and must often order from multiple sources at great shipping expense, I've included links to products available on Amazon, for ease and cost of shipping. As part of the affiliate program I will be paid a very small stipend each time a beader buys from Amazon using a link from my site.
